چکیده

Thermal management and air distribution performance are assuming a key role for achieving the energy saving and the IT equipment reliability for data centers (DCs). In recent years, to monitor and to control their variation several thermal performance metrics were introduced. This work presents a critical review on the most important thermal indices for DCs currently used. The main formulas and physical models on which they are based were discussed. Moreover, a critical analysis on the main advantages and drawbacks of each metric is carried out. © 2014 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Green Data Centers: A Survey, Perspectives, and Future Directions

At present, a major concern regarding data centers is their extremely high energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. However, because of the over-provisioning of resources, the utilization of existing data centers is, in fact, remarkably low, leading to considerable energy waste. Therefore, over the past few years, many research efforts have been devoted to increasing efficiency for the ...

Nanofluids for Heat Transfer Enhancement – A Review

A nanofluid is a dilute liquid suspension of particles with at least one critical dimension smaller than ~100 nm. Research works so far suggest that nanofluids offer excellent heat transfer enhancement over conventional base fluids. The enhancement depends on several factors such as particle shape, particle size distribution, volume fraction of nanoparticles, temperature, pH, and thermal conduc...

From Craft to Reflective Art and Science; Comment on “Metrics and Evaluation Tools for Patient Engagement in Healthcare Organization- and System-Level Decision-Making: A Systematic Review”

Patient engagement practices are increasingly incorporated in health research, governance, and care. More recently, a large number of evaluation tools and metrics have been developed to support engagement evaluation. This growing interest in evaluation reflects a maturation of the patient engagement field, moving from a “craft” to a reflective “art and science,” with more explicit expected bene...
